  • Introduction to Rounders eLearning course

    This eLearning course, for anyone aged 14+, will provide you with an introduction on how to set up and lead safe rounders sessions. Completed online at your own pace, it includes all the basic skills and information needed to get rounders played in your area.

    This course is useful for:

    • Community groups
    • Young Leaders
    • Teams/Clubs beginning their rounders journeys

    Course

    Each module should take between 10-15 mins (80-120 mins in total). You can complete each module separately or in 1 sitting, it’s completely up to you. You will receive 30 days’ access (from purchase) to the Rounders eLearning Hub to complete your course.

    Course Assessment

    To pass and earn your certificate you will need to receive 100% on the progress bar. Throughout the modules you will also need to complete ‘Knowledge checks’. On completion of the whole course you will be able to download and print off your certificate.

    Learning Outcomes

    By the end of this e-Learning course you will:

    • Learn how to ensure your sessions are welcoming and safe
    • Understand what makes a good leader
    • Be able to identify the skills required for Rounders
    • Understand the simplified rules of Rounders
    • Be able to set up a Rounders pitch and understand what roles are needed
    • Be comfortable using Rounders terminology
    • To be comfortable adapting your sessions to participant needs

    How To Access The Elearning Course

    You can access this course through mobile devices, laptop or desktop computers. To obtain the best functionality, we recommend using Google Chrome.

    • Log in or create an account on our membership platform
    • Click the Courses module and select the Introduction to Rounders eLearning course
    • Complete your details and checkout
    • After payment, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with the link to the Rounders ONLINE LEARNING HUB
    • Once you complete the course, Rounders England will receive confirmation and update your award on our membership platform

  • Activator Award (Online Classroom)

    The 2½ hour course is intended to give individuals, aged 18years+, or groups the resources and skills to set up Rounders activities in a range of settings, including local communities and parks, for a specific group of people or even for your colleagues at work!

    There is a min requirement of 10 and a max requirement of 16 learners per course.

    WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

    Activators will receive the following resources so they can go out and start to encourage people to play Rounders:

    • Activator Handbook (includes scoresheet and scorecard)
    • Small Games Cards (PDF)
    • Subscription to Rounders England’s newsletter
    • Certificate of Attendance (electronic)

    COST

    £20 per learner

  • Activator Award

    ‘Activators’ are volunteers, aged 18+, who introduce and encourage all abilities into Rounders in a fun, friendly and relaxed environment. The Activator Award is a three hour course which aims to develop a workforce to initiate ‘start up’ Rounders activity in the form of a series of sessions or a one off event (stages 1 and 2 on the player pathway). The course is a leadership award and not a coaching qualification.

    There is a min requirement of 12 and a max requirement of 20 learners per course.

    Activators will:

    • Co-ordinate a fun warm up game that will get everyone socialising
    • Play some games from the Small Games Cards
    • Play a game of Rounders
    • Deliver a cool down and chat about the session
    • Return statistics to Rounders England

    They will encourage participants to:

    • Try something new
    • Meet new people
    • Play in a friendly, relaxed environment
    • Have fun and get active!
    • Return each week

    Facility Requirements

    A four badminton court sized sports hall.

    Benefits

    The activator course is intended to give individuals or groups the resources and skills to set up Rounders activity in a range of settings including local communities and parks, for a specific group of people or even for your colleagues at work!

    Learning

    The course will provide you with an all round introduction to leading sports activities.

    • Health and Safety (check areas, equipment, participants – fit and healthy, no injuries etc.)
    • Rounders England information (website / RM contacts / CSP contacts / Welfare Policy, Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct, Rounders England philosophy)
    • Importance of welcoming participants into a fun and relaxing environment
    • Warm up and Cool Down examples
    • Small Games examples
    • Game organisation
    • Simplified Rules

    What you need to bring

    You will need to come in sportswear as participants will be expected to take part in the activities. Bring refreshments as Rounders England cannot guarantee these facilities at the venue.

    What you will receive

    Activators will receive the following resources so they can go out and start to encourage people to play Rounders:

    • Activator Handbook (includes scoresheet and scorecard)
    • Small Games Cards
    • Subscription to Rounders England’s newsletter
    • Support to set up your Rounders sessions
    • Certificate of Attendance
    • Course Organisers will also receive two Activator kit bags to distribute to learners when required

    Cost

    £35 per learner*
    *learner fees do not include the cost of the venue hire. This needs to be organised and paid for by the course organiser separately.

  • Young Leaders Award

    Rounders Young Leaders Award is a six hour course which builds on the skills already gained during the Sports Leader Award. It is generally delivered at schools and colleges and is aimed at students in Year 9 and over / 14+ years. The course usually runs over one day but can be split into two x three hour sessions (dependent on tutor availability). There is a min requirement of 14 and a max requirement of 20 learners per course.

    NOTE: The course organiser must be a member of Rounders England (any category).

    Facility Requirements

    A four badminton court sized sports hall and classroom (incl facilities to use PowerPoint).

    Benefits

    The course will enable a Rounders Young Leader to lead rounders sessions in the presence of a suitably qualified coach* or teacher.
    *Rounders England class ‘a suitably qualified coach’ as someone who holds a UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification in any sport, and who also has a current satisfactory DBS certificate and up-to-date safeguarding training.

    Learning

    Rounders Young Leaders will learn how to:

    • Run a rounders specific warm-up
    • Organise a simple practice for a Rounders skill (Catching, Bowling or Batting)
    • Organise an appropriate small game
    • Umpire a match for children in Key Stage 2
    • Assist in planning, organising and running of Rounders festivals and tournaments
    • Adapt a game of rounders
    • Interpret the Rounders England Coach and Umpire Pathways

    What you need to bring

    You will need to come in sportswear as participants will be expected to take part in the activities. Bring refreshments as Rounders England cannot guarantee these facilities at the venue.

    What you will receive

    • RYLA handbook
    • Preliminary Umpire Handbook
    • RYLA Certificate of attendance
    • Preliminary Umpire Certificate

    Who can deliver the RYLA course?

    • An approved Rounders England RYLA tutor
    • P.E. Teachers who have completed RYLA Orientation

    Costs

    £30 per learner*
    *learner fees do not include the cost of the venue hire. This needs to be organised and paid for by the course organiser separately.

    P.E. Teachers, who have undertaken the RYLA Orientation, may choose to waive the tutor fee if they deliver the course in their own school therefore the cost would be £16 per learner, for resources and p&p only.
