MATCH REPORT: Away International, Wales V England

On Sunday 22nd August 2010, the last international Rounders event of the year took place in St Asaph, Wales. England fielded an Under 16 Squad, Under 18 Squad, U21 Squad and an Adult Team.
First to play was the England Under 16 squad, guided by Dana Abdulkarim to a convincing victory. Final result: England 24, Wales 5.
Amy Dawson collected MVP (most valuable player) for England.
Next the England Under 18’s played the Wales U21 team. Another victory for England as they won 21 ½ Rounders to 6, again credit must be given to the coach Sharon Major and well as the players.
Nicola Weeks collected MVP for England.
In the next match Wales B scored 6 ½ to the England U21’s 14. This was a very competitive game but once again England came out on top with good tactics demonstrated by coach Judith Hughes.
The day culminated with a very tense and exciting adults match. England Adults were restricted to 10 ½ Rounders against a Welsh Team that excelled and won their first international for four years. The final score: England10 ½, Wales 15.
Carol Evans was the top scorer for Wales and won player of the match for her team.
Lindsay Sawyer collected Most Valuable Player for England and although disappointed, Coach Gavin Young congratulated the Welsh side and looks forward to the return leg in 2011!
Pauline Connington (Rounders England volunteer board member) gifted Wales with an aluminum bat for their squads’ forthcoming end of season presentations.
Councilor Burrows presented the trophies and congratulated all teams on their outstanding displays.
