North Devon Rounders tournaments support local charities

During the summer of 2018, North Devon Rounders’ annual charity rounders tournament raised £664.65 for local charity North Devon Against Domestic Abuse (NDADA). Sponsored by JensonR+, around a hundred players enjoyed a sun-drenched day of rounders at Barnstaple Rugby Club.

The ‘Ball Busters’ won the family tournament for the fifth consecutive year, retaining the tournament shield sponsored by North Devon Flag. ‘Torridgeside’ saw off the other teams in a fiercely contested mixed tournament, winning the Eyewear Creations Ltd. sponsored trophy.

The event was supported by Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP), Barnstaple Rugby Club and Rounders England, with catering provided by Iced Delights and Mama Johns’ Burger Van.  A number of local businesses provided a selection of generous raffle prizes, including Kirkham Tyres; Devonshire Motors Accident Repair Centre; Essence Nail & Beauty Salon, South Molton; Mole Valley Farmers; Scott Cinemas, Barnstaple; UDA Parkour and Urban Dance Academy.

Georgina Crossman coordinated the event.  She said:

“What a fantastic day!  It was amazing to see the teams enjoying rounders and raising more than £660 for NDADA surpassed our expectations.  This now brings the total we have raised for local charities to over £3,000, and we’re already planning our next tournament, in aid of North Devon Hospice, on Sunday 9th June 2019!”

Alessia Sheldon, Re:Store Shops Manager for NDADA said:

“We had such a great day and North Devon Rounders raised a fabulous amount for NDADA.  Our team thoroughly enjoyed playing in the mixed tournament!  We would like to thank all involved in making the event such a success; we felt honoured to be North Devon Rounders’ chosen charity for the event.”
